Foil-Stamped Wedding Invitations — Timeline, Foils, and Shipping

How to plan foil-stamped wedding invitations. Production timelines, foil colors we stock, and how we protect the foil in shipping so it lands scuff-free anywhere in the US.

Foil stamping is a two-pass process

Unlike CMYK printing where color and paper go through the press at once, foil stamping requires a heated die that presses metallic film onto the paper in a separate pass. That means 24 additional hours in production for any foil-stamped invitation — plan accordingly.

Foil colors we stock

Our house foils cover 95% of wedding invitation orders:

  • Rose gold — most-requested wedding foil (about 40% of our foil orders).
  • Gold — classic, works with cream, ivory, or navy stocks.
  • Silver — clean and cool, pairs well with grey and white paper.
  • Copper — trending in 2026 for fall weddings.
  • Black holographic — for edgier art-direction. Stocked on the floor and ready to run same-week.

Timelines from art-approval to your hands

Assuming your artwork is print-ready:

  • Standard foil invitation — 5 business days production, 2–3 day ground shipping to anywhere in the continental US.
  • Rush foil invitation — 3 business days production, next-day shipping (adds 40% to unit cost).
  • Weekend delivery — Saturday delivery available via FedEx / UPS if you order early in the week.

Paper stocks that show foil best

Cotton papers (110# and 118# cover weight) give foil the crispest impression. We stock Crane's Lettra and Neenah Cotton in ecru, warm white, and pearl. Coated stocks work too, but foil sits ON the surface rather than debossing into it — the effect is different and (in our opinion) less premium.

How we protect foil in shipping

Foil is more fragile than plain print — it can scuff against the inside of a shipping envelope. Every foil-stamped order ships in a rigid mailer with a glassine slip sheet between the invitations. For quantities over 100 pieces, we palletize on a case-by-case basis. Every foil-stamped order also includes a plain, unbranded sample of your die impression that ships separately so you can approve the foil color under real light before we run the full quantity.
